The Flexible Arena hosted its Roll For Gold roller hockey weekend on July 18 and 19, bringing together players of all ages to raise money for pediatric cancer awareness in support of Whip Pediatric Cancer.
The weekend was built around a simple goal: put on a great tournament and give back. Organizers set out to raise close to $5,000 for the cause, and the response from the roller hockey community made the event a success from start to finish.
Saturday belonged to the youth divisions, with an 11U bracket and a 13U bracket taking the floor. A variety of travel roller hockey organizations made the trip, and several neighboring arenas entered teams of their own, including Rapid Fire Arena.
The adult competition featured a strong field as well. Flexible IT fielded a team, and Stony Brook D2 Hockey, reigning national champions in roller hockey, brought their talent to the Flexible Arena along with several other clubs.
None of it would have been possible without South Shore Hockey and Black Biscuit, who organized and ran the event and made the entire weekend happen.
Between the competition on the floor and the money raised for Whip Pediatric Cancer, Roll For Gold delivered on every front. It was a blast for everyone involved, and the Flexible Arena is already looking forward to the next one.
