Coach / Organizer

Book the rink for your team

Every team has one Coach or Organizer. That person books the slots and is responsible for collecting waivers from all players before the team arrives at the rink. Ice runs November through May, roller June through October, and the booking flow is the same either way.

Create a team Sign in

Assistant coaches sign up too, but choose Player / Parent at the first prompt, not Coach / Organizer. Each team starts with one Coach / Organizer, who then adds them to the team.

    Log in

    Enter your email, then click Coach Registration.

    After logging in you land on the dashboard, where your status shows as pending until Flexible Arena approves it.

    Get approved

    Once approved, your dashboard has everything you need: your team roster, any waivers still outstanding, and rink booking. Head coaches can add unlimited assistant coaches.

    The My Teams tab holds most of what you are looking for. It appears once your account is approved.

    Reserve rink time

    Go to the My Teams tab and click Reserve Time.

    One slot at a time. The calendar reopens for you once your booked slot has passed, so everyone gets a turn on the rink.

What you are responsible for

When your group uses the facility you are responsible for these. The rink is monitored by video surveillance 24 hours a day.

Before you play

  • Inspect the rink surface, boards and player bench before each session. If something is unsafe, tell the rink attendant. If no attendant is on duty to fix it, do not use the rink.
  • Stop play if the playing surface is unsafe or becomes unsafe.
  • Review your waiver report before each slot. If a player is not on it, have them fill out the waiver on this site before they go on the rink.
  • Park your group in the west side lot, stay on the sidewalk, and enter through the gate at center ice.

On the rink

  • Players wear full equipment, including a mouth guard and neck guard.
  • Coaches going on the rink must wear a helmet at all times. We reserve the right to ban coaches who refuse.
  • Keep the bench doors closed during play.
  • Do not retrieve pucks from restricted areas.
  • Parents stay on the property while their minor child is playing.

House rules

  • No alcohol and no smoking.
  • No fires, fire pits, grills or open flames.
  • All tape, bottles and garbage goes in a garbage can before you leave.
  • Spectators assume all risk of injury from snow, ice, sticks, pucks or any other hazard that comes with an outdoor rink.

If you are the last group out

  1. Clear the nets and pucks

    Take all nets and pucks off the surface. In ice season, nets left overnight can melt straight through. Roller nets stay in the crease.

  2. Close every rink door

    In ice season, open doors let the cold air out and cost the next group their ice quality.

  3. Lights off, gates shut

    Once the arena is clean and everyone is out, shut off the lights and close the gates behind you.

Common questions

How do I request a rink slot?

If you coach or manage a team, create a team once you are signed in. Once approved you get access to the booking calendar, which allows one slot per week.

What if the time I want is already booked?

If the slot you want is taken for several weeks running, give us a call at (631) 756-0404 and we will work something out.

What equipment is required?

All players wear full hockey equipment, including a helmet with a face shield. Coaches wear a helmet at all times.

What are the dimensions of the rink?

65 ft by 130 ft.

Can we play in bad weather?

The roof means the rink is usable in any weather. We hold ice into the mid-80s going into May, then switch the surface over to roller for the summer.

Is rink time really free?

Yes. Every cost of running the Flexible Arena is underwritten by Flexible IT. There are no fees, dues or hourly rates.
