What Flexible IT does
Every business runs on technology now. Email, files, phones, the machines on a production floor, the software that takes the orders. When any of it stops, the work stops with it.
Most businesses land on one of four rungs. Somebody handles it themselves, usually the owner, on top of their actual job. Or one internal IT person carries all of it. Or there's a real internal IT department with a few people in it. Or the work goes to a managed service provider, an outside company that takes the whole thing on.
Flexible IT is that last one. Its model is to be the whole IT department, not a help desk to call after something breaks and not a vendor for a single system.
That means a team instead of a person: help desk, security specialists, network engineers, and a vCIO who sits in on the planning. Typically for less than the cost of one full-time salary.
An in-house hire gives a business one person, with one skillset, available during business hours, who takes sick days and eventually leaves. A team doesn't take a sick day.
Systems get watched around the clock, so most problems get handled before anyone notices them. The standard Flexible IT holds itself to is that a client shouldn't have to call about a problem, because they should already know.
And when someone does call, a real person picks up. No phone tree, no hold music, no overseas call center. Issues get resolved rather than closed.
What if a business already has an IT person
The model is still to be the full IT department, so nothing falls through the cracks between two parties who each assumed the other had it.

How the rink got here
Joe, Seth and Marty met playing hockey at Stony Brook and have run a business together for more than forty years. They never set out to build a rink.
Then March 2020 closed every rink on the Island and kids had nowhere to play. What started as an outdoor sheet behind the office got refrigeration, then a pre-fabricated roof that happened to fit the footprint exactly, then summer tiles. It has been open ever since.
